A Fan’s Diary: Adventure Time!

By Fritzie (@koweans)

Who said that adventure is just all about skydiving, mountain climbing, scuba diving and river rafting? Well, definitely not for the fangirls and the fanboys! As soon as their favorite artists announce a concert in their place, that’s where their real adventure begins!

Buying concert tickets of their beloved artists isn’t easy as easy as A B C. Fans spend money and queue for hours to get it but giving up the concert ticket is no-no. In order to meet its price, they become instant entrepreneurs selling any of their stuff; some ask support from their parents or simply keep the excess money from their allowance.

The ticket-selling event also known as “The Hunger Games” comes next. Fans participate as tributes and fight to death to get hold of their tickets. Hoping to get the best seats, these enthusiasts go to the venue hours earlier before the ticketing outlets open. For them, it’s better to come early than to go home bitterly. These dedicated fans line up for hours unsure whether they’d get their desired seats or not. Girls and boys queuing under the sun fan themselves, mutter, and slurp refreshers to scrap the heat. While, indoor is just as hassle as outdoor. Mad dash happens as the door opens. Some slip, stumble down and get hurt. But these fans are unstoppable! So they continue to race until they get to the ticketing area which is usually located at the upper level of the mall. The struggle is real for the fans but it all pays off once the ticket for their dearest band is on their hands.

Ticket? Check! Now, preparing for the concert is a must! Choosing the OOTD and must-haves could be groggy yet fun. But of course, they gotta gear up and look good on D-Day!

The concert day is the last part of the chancy and exciting quest of these fans. Outside the concert hall, they roam around and squeeze through the crowd to get freebies and buy concert goodies. And again, these devotees wait in line as they anticipate for the gates to open. Finally, the concert—flashing lights, ear-splitting screams from fellow fans, loud music, and live performances of the artists on stage.

Everyone can create their own adventure but for these fans, the struggle to buy tickets, prepare and set off to the concert is their kind of adventure. They say the experience makes them more of a fan. How about you? What’s your kind of adventure?
